Liverpool ‘serious’ over January deal, as price for Ozan Kabak drops significantly

November 10, 2020

Liverpool have been talking to Ozan Kabak’s entourage and are “seriously thinking” about a January move after the centre-back’s price tag dropped significantly.

Jurgen Klopp has been linked with numerous centre-backs following the ACL injury to Virgil van Dijk.

The champions have been dealing admirably without the Dutch centre-back. But with this season unrelenting, Klopp is understood to be eager to swell his squad.

Bundesliga journalist Chris Williams claims Schalke’s Kabak is top of Klopp’s wanted list. And Italian source Sport Media Set also report that Liverpool are keen on the centre-back.

AC Milan are also chasing the defender who had a price tag of €35m, according to Sport1 last month.

Now though Italian outlet Calciomercato (via Sport Witness) have detailed what they know about Kabak. They report that the 20-year-old defender is on top of the Rossoneri’s list for January.

Milan chief Frederic Massara has been in contact with the player’s entourage with the Bundesliga side experiencing a “moment of profound economic crisis”.

The Covid-19 pandemic has hit the German side hard. They are also next to bottom in the Bundesliga and they are understood to be ready to sell some of their players to get back on an even keel.

The outlet claim Kabak is the key asset they will look to sell, but claim his value has dropped from €35m to €25m. They even start there is  also room for an “additional discount”.

That has led to Klopp and Co. “seriously thinking” about signing Kabak to fill in the void at Anfield.

The Premier League champions have been in touch with Kabak’s camp and it now looks like a race with Milan.

Liverpool, despite the Liverpool Echo maintaining they have no interest in Kabak, are believed to be strong contenders for the player.

However, Schalke sporting director Jochen Schneider confirmed Milan made a move for the player in the summer. The Serie A side remain keen and the report even claims the Rossoneri have the “player’s approval”.
