Ferdinand slams ‘disrespectful’ Man Utd report touting Pochettino talks; reveals Solskjaer scoop from top source

November 10, 2020

Former Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand has hit out a newspaper report claiming that the club have held talks about replacing boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

The Manchester Evening News claimed last week that United have reached out to Mauricio Pochettino.

The former Tottenham boss has been out of work since leaving Spurs last November. Indeed, he outlined how he is thinking about returning to the touchline soon.

However, Solskjaer eased speculation over his immediate future with Saturday’s 3-1 win over Everton. Midfielder Bruno Fernandes was the architect, with two goals and an assist.

Speaking to his FIVE YouTube channel, Ferdinand slammed the “disrespect” the media report showed towards Solskjaer. What’s more, he claimed to set the record straight on Solskjaer with his own scoop.

“Man United needed a huge performance and a result this weekend,” the defender said. The pressure was absolutely on this team and the management, they went out there and produced.

“In the media, there’s been bit of disrespect to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer to be honest. People touting about that Pochettino has been spoken to.

“I’ve got it from a really, really, really good source that there’s been no conversations and they wouldn’t disrespect Ole Gunnar Solskjaer in that manner. I feel like that should be addressed.”

Solskjaer speculation out of order

“We can all say ‘so and so will be good or better’, that’s just part of the game. But to say someone has been spoken to and is coming in imminently, when it’s not true, I think that’s out of order,” Ferdinand added.

“The man is in the job and his team have found a knack of always pulling a result out when they need it and this was no difference, they were solid.”

Speculation over Solskjaer’s future had once again arrived after two successive defeats. However, their latest win means the Red Devils enter the international break without languishing pressure.

United return to action with a Premier League clash against West Brom at Old Trafford.
